Burberry just had their new 2012 Fall Winter Collection show! And it was fantastic! The designs for this collection is like a beautiful art collage of Edwardian, Victorian, and 40'style eras all in one! All of which are my favorites styles!

The tweed fabric ruffles tier skirts with tailored Edwardian jackets gave the collection a great mix of feminine elegance along with practicality for everyday street-ware. This collection I am sure will make any Victoriana girl super jealous!

And we can't forget about the men. They all looked sharp wearing velvet fabric pants and jackets!

Now let's enjoy the fashion show!

An Invitation from Fashion Designer Lena Hoschek!

The other day I was pleasantly surprised when I received a personal invitation from Lena Hoschek to attend her fashion show for Berlin's Fashion Week! I was so excited to have been invited to the event that I almost flipped!

Ever since I was little girl I have always loved the romantic classic look. So when I saw Lena's latest fall/winter collection I knew that it was a fresh twist from the regular vintage look that I am used to seeing.

When I saw Lena's latest collection the bold colors and prints, the bows and the checkered patterns it brought back fond memories to the time when I was in high school.

When I was in school I was too busy studying and trying to make my grades that I barely had time for myself. Back then I believed in being practical when it came to fashion. So that was why I adopted the effortless preppy look.

Lena's chic preppy romantic designs are like a box of chocolates. Every single item of dress is sweet, bold, and beautiful!

At the end of the day I wasn't able to attend the event. New York's Fashion Week would have been a more realistic travel plan for me. I would loved to have met Lena!

I sure can't wait to be able to wear one of Lena's designs one day! It would sure bring back happy high school memories...

This has been an unusually warm Winter for us here in the Western Hemisphere. And what best than to start thinking about Spring & Summer retro wear with our all time favorite store Stop Staring!

In an interview Alicia mentioned that her collection was inspired by the film noir. She then described her collection.“For my collection this season, I have focused on drape, tailoring, and cutting a dress to wrap around a woman’s figure and enhance all shapes and sizes, all inspired by the era of the 1940s and 1950s. I really want women to feel feminine and classy, and empower them with a great fitting dress. Fit and quality are always at the top of my lists.”

Elizabeth Taylor was and will be remembered as one of Hollywood's most talented and glamorous stars. Yes, men and women alike have admired her natural beauty through out the years. And one of her most unique features that she had were definitely her stunning violet eyes!

Just the other day when I picked up a People Magazine I stopped at a picture of her and noticed her piercing violet eye color. I pointed it out to my husband and thought for sure that someone must have photoshopped that picture. But then my husband responded, "no that was really her eye color."

I knew that Elizabeth had violet eyes. But I had no idea that they were a deep violet color. When I saw her picture it was as if I was looking at an amethyst stone color eyes on a porcelain doll! I was totally taken back. No wonder she was mesmerizing!

Part of her other glamorous signature look were her thick dark eyebrows, her natural beauty mark, and her short wavy black hair. While many at the time prefer the blonde look, this gal proved that brunettes can also have some fun.

In addition to her natural beauty Elizabeth was also known for her sophisticated accessories. They say that diamonds are a girls best friend. And Elizabeth definitely had many, many best friends. She loved gemstones since she was a young girl. They say that her jewelry are worth $150 million. Once in an interview she told Barbara Walters, "The beauty, the perfection, God's workmanship. They're all from the ground."

It is interesting to note though that out of all her jewelry collection Elizabeth only purchased a few, because most were given as presents to her from the men in her life, which kind of reminded me of Cleopatra.

Oscar Wilde once said, "Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life." I think that that was the case in the life of the glamorous Elizabeth Taylor.

What is Inside Wonder Woman's Purse?

No matter how busy Wonder Woman was she always made sure not to leave home without it. No, I am not talking about her bullet-deflecting bracelets. No and it's not her golden lasso that makes folks say the truth. I am talking about her one and only super lipstick. How else do you think she got her super powers? Well, okay so it wasn't the lipstick itself that made her strong, but it sure made her feel perkier and prettier.

In January this year Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced that DC Comics' iconic heroine Wonder Woman will team up with MAC Cosmetics to create a Wonder Woman makeup collection that will be available by Spring. Well guess what a whole Wonder Woman makeup line is here!

We are especially excited about the lipsticks! With it's rich classy colors and signature Wonder Woman case is no wonder that these beauties have been flying off the shelves!

Victorian Fashion at Plasticland!

I recently visited Plasticland to see what new things they have. And the first thing that I noticed was their new whimsical website design, which I totally love! In addition to that they have added new Victorian items that are totally cute!

For those that know me know that I not only love the 20's- 60's decades. But I also happened to be fascinated with the Victorian era. As a matter of fast that era inspired me to write my novel Victoria Lee Jones and The Valedictorians Secret Society.

So as I am writing my novel I always think what my characters would be wearing in any particular scene. What would Victoria Lee Jones be wearing when she travels back in time? Well she would wear:

A Victorian inspired blouse key print style with it's high ruffled neckline and puffed sleeve.

A Wool Victorian bowler hat.

A Black and white hounds tooth heeled booties.

And an Antique inspired pocket watch pendant necklace.

I think that it always important for a girl to keep track of time especially when she is traveling to a place where she haven't been before.

Well like Madame Carlton always says: "Taking risks is the spice of life."

Fashion Talk:" Curves Are Back." Were They Ever Gone?

When I read that "Curves Are Back!", in the Bazaar's May 2010 magazine I was super delighted! The magazine brought out that the fashion designers have left the "boyish" look and have embraced the ladylike styles. When I first read that I said to myself, "finally, it was about time!"

Designers everywhere are being inspired with the old fashion trends of the past. Especially the styles of the 40's, 50's and 60's. In the article it brought out how many designers are looking to Jackie O's, Audrey Hepburn, Marylin Monroe, and Grace Kelly for their new inspirations. Each and every one of these ladies had their own signature look that identify them as their own.

I am very thrilled by the great retro styles that have come back! For one thing most women like myself were endowed with soft lines and curves. We can't hide the fact that we are women. And aren't these styles to die for? I absolutely love putting on a dress that makes me feel pretty and ladylike.

Now my second reaction to the "Curves Are Back", had me also wondering if curves were really gone. As far as I remembered I always had curves and loved looking for clothes that would accentuate my hourglass figure.

You see I came from the Spanish culture were it was alright for women to have curves. The women were proud and happy of having curves, and so were their men. In South America we never heard of women starving on purpose so that they could be thin. Being thin was a sign that you were extremely poor or that you were sick.

Women in these Spanish countries have always embraced their femininity. They love wearing clothes that accentuates their waist, hips, and other parts of their womanly body. Although they looked at the American fashion for style inspiration, at the end they still wanted to look as womanly as possible.

Although I wasn't influenced by the thin and boyish trend that the fashion world was sporting in their run ways. There were times that these skinny trends shown in the fashion magazines was alluring to me. I have to say that these people have a knack in making these thin girls look glamorous and perfect. I could sympathize with young girls and adult women that could easily be influenced by wanting to become thin.

Thin has influenced designers for many years. Around 20's the thin boyish look of the flapper girls were in. Thin again showed up in the late 60' and part of the seventies with the Twiggy influence. Then again in the 90's and up to our time thin was in again. This time the fashion looked more grunge and depressing. One article I read called it the " Heroin Chic" style.

I sincerely hope that the new curvy trend could stay. But as we all know fashion comes and goes. But no matter what the fashion industry dictates what women should wear, women of all ages, shapes, and sizes should always stay true to themselves. For one thing being a woman is great, but being a happy woman is even better!
